The symptoms of Compulsive Overeating closely mirror that of Binge Eating Disorder and can bring enormous distress to sufferers. If you are concerned that you may suffer from Compulsive/Binge eating do not worry. There is plenty of help I can offer as an experienced Cognitive Hypnotherapist specialising in these areas, to help you get back in control of you and your eating. By recognising that you might have a problem and looking for help you have already taken the first step towards conquering your disordered relationship with food.
Traditional medical treatment for eating disorders is typically aimed at changing the person’s unhealthy eating behaviour with regards to food. My approach as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist is different as I want to understand the emotional beliefs that are leading the person to do this behaviour.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy is excellent for dealing with these issues as they work at a deeper level of consciousness, helping the individual to develop a greater understanding of their own mind and why their brain causes them to behave in this destructive way. Rather than attempting too quickly to change behaviour, which the individual believes are necessary. We enhance and grow feelings of self worth/value which enable the client to make changes to their patterns of eating and associated behaviour at a rate with which they feel comfortable with.
Q: So how many sessions will I need ?.
This will probably be not as many as you might think. Cognitive Hypnotherapy can often be very effective and make permanent changes, in a very short amount of time compared to other approaches. To successfully treat the underlying causes and the habit, it is my experience that this can be achieved on average 3 to 4 sessions.
